Its highest point is the volcano <strong><a title=\"Terevaka\" href=\"https:\/\/imaginarapanui.com\/en\/easter-island-sightseeing\/easter-island-volcanoes\/terevaka\/\">Maunga Terevaka<\/a><\/strong> with 511 meters located in the north of the island. The two other points of highest altitude are the volcanoes <strong><a title=\"Rano Kau\" href=\"https:\/\/imaginarapanui.com\/en\/easter-island-sightseeing\/easter-island-volcanoes\/rano-kau\/\">Rano Kau<\/a><\/strong>, located to the southwest with 324 meters, and the<strong><a title=\"Poike\" href=\"https:\/\/imaginarapanui.com\/en\/easter-island-sightseeing\/easter-island-volcanoes\/poike\/\"> Poike<\/a><\/strong>, with 377 meters in the southeast.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 590px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/imaginarapanui.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Rano-Raraku03.jpg?resize=600%2C338&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Areal view of Rano Raraku volcano where is easter island\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Areal view of Rano Raraku volcano<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In addition to these three main volcanoes there are various other lesser volcanoes and volcanic landforms like the <strong><a title=\"Rano Raraku\" href=\"https:\/\/imaginarapanui.com\/en\/easter-island-sightseeing\/easter-island-volcanoes\/rano-raraku\/\">Rano Raraku<\/a><\/strong> crater, the cinder cone <strong><a title=\"Puna Pau\" href=\"https:\/\/imaginarapanui.com\/en\/easter-island-sightseeing\/easter-island-volcanoes\/puna-pau\/\">Puna Pau<\/a><\/strong>, and a series of <a title=\"Easter Island Caves\" href=\"https:\/\/imaginarapanui.com\/en\/easter-island-sightseeing\/easter-island-caves\/\"><strong>caves<\/strong><\/a> formed by tubes of lava.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 590px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/imaginarapanui.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Terevaka02.jpg?resize=600%2C338&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"View of hills surrounding the Terevaka volcano where is easter island \" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">View of hills surrounding the Terevaka volcano<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The rest of the island consists of soft hills that contrast with its rocky and ragged coast. In front of it rise five uninhabited islets called motus (island in the rapanui language): Motu Nui, Motu Iti and Motu Kao Kao in the southwest end, the Motu Tautara islet in the west coast, and the Motu Marotiri in the east coast.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 590px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/imaginarapanui.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Motus.jpg?resize=600%2C338&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"View of the &quot;motus&quot;
