Diffusion of Rapanui art and culture

The Tongariki Cultural Center is a space run by the Cultural Corporation of Rapa Nui, a non-profit organization established in 1999, which aims to spread art and culture on Easter Island. In addition to managing the main media on the island, Radio Manukena (dial Fm 88.9) and local television channel Mata o te Rapa Nui (signal 13), organizes various activities throughout the year.
Among these activities are the Ka Ma’u Te Re’o Festival dedicated to rapanui music that takes place in November, outdoor cinema cycles in the summer, photography exhibitions, visual arts workshops, recycling fairs, artisan products fairs, creative workshops for children, exhibitions of traditional sculpture and several concerts.

The Tongariki Cultural Center is located in front of Pea Beach on Policarpo Toro Street, between the Santander Bank office and the Sernatur tourist office. It is made up of three buildings built of stone grouped around a wide open square, covered with grass, which serves as a meeting place during the events that are organized.

The Tongariki Cultural Centre has a small shop where you can find products related to the Tapati Tapati Rapa Nui Festival as t-shirts and polo shirts with exclusive designs and DVDs that show the previous editions of the most important festival of Easter Island. It is a good option for those who want to take a souvenir and provide a small income that will help to finance the projects and cultural activities organized by the centre.
